Year 5/6 CAMP

Christain Youth Camp (CYC) accommodated us at ‘The Island’ camp site in Cowes Phillip Island and what a wonderful and sunny 3 days we had.

“The best camp we have ever been to” was an exact quote on the way home on the bus by many of the students.

As a Year 5 and 6 community we were so lucky to be able to experience the best the ‘The Island’ had to give with the organised activities of surfing, bodyboarding, archery, the giant swing, flying fox and pedal car racing.

Although we had the best time on our organised activities, some of the best experiences were when we had free time hanging out around the campfire with some marshmallows, playing in the pool, trampolining, twister, footy, basketball and one of the most incredible talent shows in St James history.

On the way home we were so lucky to have the best bus driver named Gary, who gave us so many interesting facts and stories about Phillip Island from celebrities, animals, companies and activities.

As a community, we should all be so proud of how the students acted and held themselves over the 3 day camp. Students always used manners, took turns and listened to the best of their ability and really held the St James name with pride.

What a WONDERFUL first SRC meeting we have had this morning!

We spoke about many great ideas and came up with 2 things the students had to action in their class today at lunch eating time. For the Prep, 1's and 2's, the year 6 students assisted the students who stood up  and spoke about Project Compassion and any ideas they have on how to raise more funds.

SRC's are also going to speak about how they are Mini Vinnies and what that means! They may also pass on some ideas we spoke about for community engagement such as : Farm animal visit, Soccer game with coaches, Movie nights, Vegetable garden - donation or sell produce to fundraise, Pizza/popcorn on movie night, Choc top - Oodie day,  more sports equipment, Help play in Tilley, Cubbyhouse, Friday fun moments, Mascots, Easter egg hunt, Dress-up day, Book swap, Plant day, Birdwatch, Pj and hot chocolate day (term 2) Winter appeal!

We are reaching for the stars!

We do a yoga class every Friday which helps to calm our bodies and our minds.  We have been learning the names of lots of different poses and getting into lots of different positions.

We have been learning all about numbers. We love to say our numbers, play number games and even practise writing our numbers.
