Year 6 News

Year 6 - Take Action Thursday

Throughout this term, Year 6 students have had the opportunity to show their leadership skills and help ‘give back to the school’ by participating in ‘Take Action Thursday’ on a Thursday afternoon from 2:30 – 3:15pm.

Throughout these sessions, students have the opportunity to share their voice and participate in a leadership activity which is either related to their Leadership role or another way of supporting our school.

Students have been participating in the following activities which have been solely student-driven:

Library support – returning borrowed books from younger year levels and sorting shelves to keep the Library clean and tidy

Lost Property – returning Lost Property to those students who have named items in the Lost Property Bins

Rubbish monitors – gaining an understanding of where rubbish is collecting in the school grounds and adjusting the School Bin placement to make sure that rubbish is not circulating in the school grounds

Gardening – cleaning and raking of garden areas to collect leaves and remove rubbish from certain areas of the school

Classroom support in Prep , Year 1 & Year 2 listening to younger students read

This has been a student-driven initiative and we look forward to continuing to watch and support the students in their roles as Leaders of the school during ‘Take Action Thursday’ in the future.
