Breakfast Club

Hi Families,
You might have seen that we are starting a Breakfast Club here at MCPS. This initiative is supported by Foodbank Vic. Breakfast is such an important meal for children. It gives them energy to start their day with the ability to concentrate, problem solve and use their memory. Children who eat breakfast are also more likely to have a regular attendance at school, be emotionally healthy and maintain a healthy weight.
It's interesting that some children (and adults) aren't hungry in the morning and some wake up starving. If you have a child that isn't interested in breakfast, some good options are a smoothie, boiled eggs (hot or cold), fruit, a cheese toastie or even dry cereal. I have a daughter who ate dry oats with a glass of milk on the side for a while.😂
Breakfast club at MCPS will be held in the greenspace from 8:45-9 on Mondays and Thursdays, starting on Monday the 15th of March. We will have a range of "grab and go" options for the children including milk, fruit cups and fresh fruit. Peer support can be a great encourager for eating breakfast, and we are hopeful that Brekky Club can support healthy habits for all our students. All are welcome to come, even those who have already had breakfast at home.
See you there!
