GEPS-Grinners!
This week we launched our new playground award... a GEPS-Grinner! This award is to recognise students who are being safe and respectful, who are playing by the rules and using playtime as a time to have safe fun and interact positively with friends.
Teachers on duty are on the look-out for students doing the right thing. We are giving 5 out in each duty area. You can count them as a GEPS-Star and they go towards earning a Galaxy Merit.
Swimming Carnival Results
Last week we held our Years 3-6 Swimming Carnival. A fabulous day of races, water safety and novelty events (thank you to Mrs Hockey and Mrs Maatouk for your organisation).
5 students qualified for zone - and they will compete against students from 10 other schools in the Auburn Zone. They are:
- Adham E
- Khaled A
- Anuva A
- Mohamed T
- Al Qassam T
Learning Conversations
Learning Conversations have started for Kindy families (Stage 3 will be scheduled over the next few weeks). Many of you know that our Learning Conversations have won awards for the way they are inclusive; informative; student-centred; and focused on goals for future learning.
We are really proud of our system - and still get many schools asking to visit and learn about this way of doing things! We hope to reach 100% of families in semester 1.
One of the features of Learning Conversations is providing some ideas of how you can help your child at home. Have a look at how we are supporting parents of Kindy students:
Learning from around the school
Each week I visit classrooms to witness the learning and teaching that is at the heart of our school. This week I spent some time in Stage 1. I saw some very focused learning...
Instructional Rounds
We are part of a network of 5 schools that focus on visiting classrooms and looking at student learning in order to analyse best practice and plan for whole school improvements to support even deeper learning.
Next week on Monday and Tuesday 4 staff members will visit Old Guildford PS to help them problem-solve around students learning. We are looking forward to sharing our knowledge; visiting classrooms; and working with them to stretch their children! I will represent GEPS with Mrs Tainsh, Mrs Delvecchio and Miss Ballouk.
