P & F Welcome BBQ

Last Thursday we welcomed all families, old and new, to attend our annual Parents and Friends Welcome BBQ. It was lovely to see so many families in attendance and to be able to catch up in an informal gathering. Thank you also to the families and committee members who stayed to help pack up at the end.

Junior School Swimming Carnival

We are excited about our annual swimming carnival tomorrow. Hopefully, the weather will rain itself out today and we will have perfect conditions tomorrow!

We ask that you pack enough food and drinks for your son, as they are not allowed to purchase items from the canteen. Your son should wear his bathers to school under his uniform and bring a change of underwear.

An EdSmart notification was sent out on Tuesday with all the details and asking for a reply if you intend to take your son home from the carnival.

The carnival commences at 10am and will conclude at around 2pm. No students will be allowed to depart before the presentations, which are at the end of the carnival.

Parents are most welcome to attend. You will be asked to ‘check’ in with our Covid QR code or manually sign in at the entrance. It is important to note that the time listed for each event in the programme are approximate only.

Formal Photos

This week we had formal individual and class photos. Any student who was missing on the day will have an opportunity to have a catch-up photo later this year. These phots can be ordered online. Orders must be in by 4.30pm on Tuesday March 9. Go to the website: http://www.leading image.com.au.

Curriculum and Learning Enhancement

This week we have formally been able to commence our intervention programmes. Specifically, in literacy, this is Macqlit and MSL. Macqlit (designed by Macquarie University) is a programme designed specifically to address reading fluency. We also have MSL, which is a multi-sensory approach to address phonological awareness, and to increase the boys’ ability to encode (spell) words and decode (read).

If your son requires a Learning Plan, these meetings are being and will be conducted in the coming weeks. These meetings will take place between the classroom teacher, yourself, and myself.
