I am an author

Book Making.

Book Making is all about children making their own books and becoming authors.  It is a delightful, engaging and interactive way to get children excited about writing and reading. This approach empowers children to see themselves as competent writers and honours children’s prior learning. It is used in all our early years classes as part of English lessons. Children are encouraged to write books abouttopics they are familiarwith and are experts in. At times, there will be some encouragement to create a book about a set topic or there will be examples of books to use as a guide (mentor books). Books may be linked to other curriculum areas.

Genre

This semester we are working on the following genres:

Information Report - The purpose of an information report is to provide us with facts and generally describe objects. Information reports are presented in an organised manner.

Narrative - A narrative is a text that tells a story. The story can be realistic, imagined or a mixture of both. The goal of a narrative is to connect the reader with the text and the characters and events that occur within the story. Narratives involve a problem and a solution.
