General Information (1 of 2)

Tiqbiz is now FlexiBuzz

For those existing parents who are using Tiqbiz please note that it has had a name change to FlexiBuzz. All processes for using FlexiBuzz have remained the same.

For those parents who are unfamiliar with this, the School uses FlexiBuzz as its preferred method of communication.  It's easy to download and saves our environment by eliminating the need for lots of paper copies. The system is far more efficient than email and is class specific.   During emergencies FlexiBuzz represents a far more efficient and reliable method of communication as it can easily be used from a mobile phone should we lose power.

If you have not yet downloaded the app, we strongly encourage you to do so. FlexiBuzz offers everything in one place from the Canteen to the Newsletter.

FlexiBuzz is the perfect tool for advising the school of your child's absence. Simply click 'Enter Here' and then use the corresponding 'Absence' button in the 'Quicklinks' bar.

Once you have downloaded the app, you can select all relevant classes for your children. These class groups are password protected to maintain privacy. The password has not changed from previous years. If you are unsure of the password, please contact Reception.

As well as accessing FlexiBuzz from a smartphone or tablet, you can also access it from your desktop with the following URL http://www.flexibuzz.com.au/au/school-app/.

If you would like to download the app, but technology isn't your strength, feel free to come into Reception and one of our staff will be happy to help you.  We know those who have downloaded it are enjoying it. Information comes to you in one easy place.  Why not download it today??"

Congratulations - Wedding News!

The School would like to congratulate Monique (past student and admin staff member) and Nathan (staff member) on their recent wedding.

Language Perfect World Championships News

Each year our French Secondary students compete in the Language Perfect World Championships. In 2016 our efforts were hampered by the Year 8 camp running at the same time, but the previous year we were NUMBER ONE in Victoria for our size school. Students compete by doing as many French language questions on the Language Perfect website as they can within a 10 day period (May 15 - May 25). The more questions our students do, the higher their ranking.

There is certificate recognition for those who complete 500 questions or more within this period. Our highest students have reached Gold Medal status of  over 3,000 questions. To add to the incentive to do our best, Language Perfect offer a variety of prizes like MP3 players, and iPads etc, but these are 'names drawn out of a hat' kind of prizes. Our French department offers in house prizes so that everyone who attains a certain level will receive a prize, ranging from canteen vouchers through to iTunes cards and movie passes.

Please encourage your children to participate and add their 'weight' to our school's performance in this event!

Sickness in Junior School

The School would like to inform parents that there have been a few cases of "Slap Cheek" in Junior School. This is a reminder that we all need to be vigilant with hygiene processes like washing hands and covering coughs and sneezes. Junior School Staff are also reminded to uphold regular hygiene practices within their classrooms.

The is no cause for immediate alarm as there is no exclusion period for this viral infection.

If you suspect that your child/children have contracted the virus the School encourages parents to seek the advice of their regular GP.

The School also encourages parents to access the Victorian Government Better Health Channel website for information on the viral infection.

2017 ICAS Testing Nominations

The ICAS Competition is a series of nationally administered test papers in English, Spelling, Writing, Science, Mathematics and Digital Technologies.

For the past six years, teachers have nominated gifted and talented students to sit the University of NSW ICAS Tests. BHCS has been blessed over this time in achieving some fantastic results – particularly last year where students achieved 10 High Distinctions (including three students in the 98% percentile).

Once again this year – in addition to teacher nominations – we are opening a limited number of nominations to parents who think that their child would enjoy the challenge of sitting the tests. The nomination process involves completing a form outlining why you think your child would benefit from participation.

To access this nomination form, please email Mr Dickson – adickson@bhcs.vic.edu.au
