Collaborative Project

On Tuesday 6 December, students from Mr Vallance’s Year 9 Web Page Design class proudly presented the results of their ‘Collaborative Projects’ to executives at Trajan Scientific and Medical headquarters in Ringwood.

The term long task involved the students working in project teams with assigned roles like; project lead and head of web design to make a product to benefit either the elderly or disabled people.

After researching, prototyping and presenting their products with websites and promotional video, the winning three groups then presented their products to the CEO Stephen Tomisich and the heads of department, in a shark tank style scenario.

The prize for the best product and presentation was awarded to Kelsey Wade, Kiara-Shae Ryan–Bader, Hailey Karl, Tammy Brown and Emma Helliwell.

Special thanks to Trajan Scientific and Medical for their fantastic support of our students’ growth and experience in creativity, collaboration and communication.

The top three projects were Helperbot, Human Headlights and Ultra Sonic Eye (USE);

Helperbot

A voice activated programmable robot that will assist sufferers of dementia and Alzheimer’s with moving around their homes.

Human Headlights

A hat-mounted LED and sensor unit that activates automatically when it gets dark, enabling the user to easily and safely move about at night. (Beau Tennant, Brodie Daniels, Jarrod Gilbee, Ky Hawkins).

Ultra Sonic Eye ( U.S.E)

A wrist mounted sensor that detects levels of light according to user proximity to objects that will enable blind people to navigate unfamiliar areas without guide dogs or walk sticks.  (Jarrod Isherwood, David Levy, Caleb Villiers and Matthew Wagner).
