2016 has been a busy, jam-packed year for us all.
On our very first day of high school, I'm sure most of us were nervous to say the least. Many of us started off with completely different friendship groups than what we have now, and weren't sure about the expectations and responsibilities of being a Lilydale High School student.
11 months later, all of us have matured. Whether it may be mentally, physically or emotionally, we have all grown and are now proper high school students.
We have had great experiences in our first year of high school. Year 7 camp was a very interesting camp, where we interacted with many people we wouldn't have normally talked to in the school yard. Our trip to the zoo was fun, where we saw loads of different animals, then had a very very long trip home.

Well, we have finally reached the end of the year, and I'm almost certain that every single student here right now, has accomplished something new this year.
A number of our Year 7 sport teams have made it into high levels and a special mention to our Year 7 Baseball team who has made the State Finals.
We have also accomplished things in classrooms with our learning and understanding of all our subjects.
Year 7 has been a fun and exciting ride, but now it's time for this school year to end, and for us all to get a good rest before we transition into Year 8.
As we transition from Year 7 to Year 8, the time has come for Mariah and my captaincy to come to an end. We've both hugely enjoyed leading all of you this year, and would like to thank you all for an awesome year. Our Vice Captains Tyler and Maggie have been brilliant. We couldn't have been a leadership team without them.
On behalf of all of Year 7, we would like to give a sincere thank you to all Year 7 teachers and Home Group teachers. Without you all, we wouldn't have had a successful and productive first year.
Mariah Derksen
And of course, our Coordinators. You guys have helped every single one of us kids with our problems, been there for us through good and bad, and always helped us to see the positives through the negatives.
But, a very special thank you has to go out to the Head of Year 7, Miss Wilson. Being the head of our year level is not always an easy task, and there is always lots of behind the scenes work. We are so grateful for all the work you do, and appreciate the effort you put in every day. I personally will never forget you taking me to that medical centre in Phillip Island and sitting there, waiting with me, learning pelvic floor exercises for hours on end. We are all very grateful for all the work you do, and appreciate the effort you put in every day.
Congratulations to all of you for a great first year of high school. Have a great summer!
Year 7 Girls Cricket
On Wednesday 30 November, I had the pleasure of taking the Year 7 Girls Cricket team to the MCG for the State Final.
The girls played against Echuca in the State Grand Final. They put up an excellent fight and came away, Runners Up in the State!
This is an amazing achievement and the girls represented the school with pride. They were respectful on the train, and we even had members of the community comment on their wonderful behaviour.
Congratulations to the following girls; you should be so proud of yourselves.

- Charli Granville
- Emily Harper
- Courtney Davis
- Alexia Habenschuss

Year 7 Reflection Activity
Last week the students were doing a refection activity in Home Group. They have taken the time to reflect on what they have done throughout the year and their highlights.
753
Mr Izzard, Home Group teacher of 753, asked his Home Group to write something very short. Some of the responses included;
“Meeting new people and making cool friends.”
“All the extra sporting opportunities”
“Camp was really fun.”
“Meeting all the people in my form and getting to know them all!”
754
Miss Metcalfe also worked with 754 to come up with a few reflections;
Zac Vezer
This year was my first year in high school. At the start I was scared for what was to come but it has been a very good year because I have become friends with everyone in my class, but especially Daniel, Jamie, James, Brandon and Lucas.
Salena Johnson
This year I have had so much fun in classes. I have met new friends, and people, and I have participated in so many things.
My most memorable moment from Year 7, was making it into the A1 Netball team. I was really proud of myself because there were a lot of other talented and fast mid courts, but they chose me to be the centre.
I have learnt a lot from this year and have grown as a person.
Bailee Stokes
This year I was pretty proud of my grades in some classes, particularly; English, French, Geography and History.
The friends that I didn't know before, was pretty much everyone, except for Alysha, because I knew Alysha a few years before high school.
The most memorable moment was the Mannequin challenge.
Jamie Young
The most memorable moment is when we made State, in Baseball.
I didn't know anyone at the start of the year except for Daniel and Corey.
The one thing that I am proud of is getting good grades, meeting new friends and having a go at everything.
Declan Thiele
My most memorable moment for Year 7 was camp. We had a lot of fun!
A new friend that I didn’t know, but am now great mates with, is Callum Freeman.
This year I am proud of myself for making the footy team and making regional Cross Country.

Our class, 737 have all had a really exciting year with the Maths probability fair, the egg-citing egg-speriments with egg-cellent yolks.
We were invited to join in the Year 8 Maths fair and had to make a probability. Over the term this kept us extremely busy, but it was worth it, as it was lots of fun. We were very lucky to be part of it and are grateful for the experience.
During an egg crashing egg-speriment in Science, our task was to make devices to save an egg from smashing in a crash. This was then filled puns that made you crack up and scrambled eggs everywhere. We went on to think about ways to make them stronger.
739 – Tash Dekker and Jake Daffy
This year was a fantastic year. All students managed to get through the stress of completing the work set and cooperating in our classes.
The excursions this year were extremely entertaining and you could tell lots of the students enjoyed the activities at the Year 7 camp at Phillip Island during Term 2.
741 – Jaydean Stamp and Darcy Lloyd
This semester we’ve been learning a lot and supporting each other on the way to creating new friendships.
Our teachers have been working with us and they’ve been teaching us lots over the semester and understanding us in our ways of learning.
The Home Group task, like Thinking Thursday would let us think outside of the box to see what we can learn and what we can do.
As the year is quickly coming to an end, we are quickly rushing to get all our CATS and assessments completed, as well as working towards being ready for Year 8.
While making many great friendships that would stick for life, this semester we started a little thing called ‘lip sync battle’ where every Wednesday morning it would happen. Basically, you would pick a song that you want to lip sync and perform in front of the class, usually against Mr Moore. Then the class voted who won. Mr Moore usually won.
During Home Group we would do little activities that would help us with all aspects of life.
We would like to say a massive thank you on behalf of 741 to all the Year 7 teachers who taught us in either Semester 1 or Semester 2 or both. You have taught us so many things, while being there for us. As 2016 comes to an end, we will carry through the values and knowledge that we have developed to 2017.
We would like to wish everyone good luck for Year 8 and a safe and happy Christmas.
746 – Alex Karanikich and Jamie Nahon
What did we do in Home Group this year?
Well, we played a ton of kahoots about random things and every Thursday and Friday we did Thinking Thursday and Friday Frenzy. It’s been quite fun this year in Home Group, especially the kahoots, and we all look forward to having the same fun next year.
747 – Paige Wishart-Hawkey and Tyler Lillis
This year has been good. We have done a lot of fun things. For the first semester, one of the highlights was the camp. A lot of people went and had lots of fun. The first semester was also about getting used to your class mates and teachers.
Second semester we have had to get used to a few new teachers for new subjects, and have some fun things coming up for the End of Year Program.
Our teachers have been amazing and taught us lots of new things and prepared us for next year.
748 – Sophie Mastaing and Joel Palmieri
Throughout Semester 2 we have learnt about the different types of bullying. We have learnt to always be kind and stick up for other people.
This has been a great year. A very smooth transition from Year 6 to 7 and we are very thankful for all the support we have received.
749 – Samantha Moller and Ethan Twibble
At the start of the year we had Orientation Day that helped sort out all my questions about high school.
At the start of Term 2 and the end of Term 1, we had the Year 7 camp at Phillip Island which was quite fun. We made some great friends.
750 – Karla Anderson and Cobey Clausen
Our favourite part of Year 7 was making new friends. It was nice and different to meet new people from different schools. We were also lucky enough to get put in an amazing Home Group with awesome people with different personalities.
Our transition has been fun and easy. We are so happy that we get to spend a full year again with a bunch of good people.
751 – Lilia Corbett and Hayden Vassallo
Home Group has been fun this year, doing all the activities and things in Home Group and all the camps we went on; Phillip Island and going to the beach.
We also went on a leadership camp, and did activities that made us better leaders on the camp.
752 – Ashleigh Wilson and Reece Walsham
This semester in 752 Home Group, we have been doing the ‘writing notebook’ for Thinking Thursday and Friday Frenzy.
This semester was pretty hard, because it was getting towards the end of the year and we had to do all our CATS.
753 – Caitlyn Serong and Harry Nyhuis
This year was a huge success for everyone in 753. We have gotten along very well. We have enjoyed getting to know our peers and spending time with all of our teachers.
Everyone in our class has a good attitude when it comes to learning; we are all very excited for Year 8.
754 – Salena Johnson and James Bedford
We have had a great time at school throughout this year in Year 7. Our form is a very fun and friendly bunch of kids, and we look forward to seeing them all again next year.
755 – Kayla Allen and Kynan Jones
Year 7 has been a fantastic year. We had the Year 7 camp, swimming carnivals, athletics carnivals and loads more activities.
In sport, we had people competing in baseball, soccer, volleyball and basketball.
We can’t wait for Year 8 and all the fun activities to come, with our new teachers.
756 – Alexia Habenschuss and Lachlan Baxter
This year in 756 was good. It was full of ups and downs. We loved g

Supper Club Mondays
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everybody who has supported Supper Club this semester.
Mr Webb and I had an idea that has grown into a fantastic and welcomed part of the school week and culture.
We have enjoyed spending time with the group of Year 8 boys that worked so hard week after week to serve the teachers delicious, nutritious and filling meals for lunch on Mondays.
We look forward to growing this program and look forward to Supper Club 2017!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
