Dear Parents and Students,

Our annual athletics sports held last Monday were once again a great success. Held in magnificent weather conditions at Knox athletics track, there were some great performances by our students in an array of running, throwing and jumping events as well as the creation of some interesting costumes! 

Thanks to the PE staff for their organisation, JMSS staff for supervising the events and our students for their enthusiastic participation.

Preparation for the 5th JMSS Reef and Rainforest trip is well underway with a very well-attended Parent Information night in the first week of term and I am certainly looking forward to the 10th JMSS Information Night coming up on Wednesday 2 May for prospective students.

Next week is also the annual Macbeth night showcasing the performance skills of all of our Year 10 students as they act out scenes from the play, and I encourage all JMSS parents and families to attend.

Asian Physics Olympics in Hanoi, Vietnam

Congratulations to Boris Deletic and Vlad Mikho, both of Year 12, who have been selected to represent Australia in the Physics Olympiad in Hanoi, Vietnam in May. Both Boris and Vlad have just returned from a training camp in Canberra and were selected after an intensive summer physics program at Australian National University.

Spirit of ANZAC Prize

Congratulations to Zahra Mozaffari of Year 10 who has been one of 20 students across Victoria awarded a spirit of ANZAC prize for the submission of a project outlining aspects of how war has impacted on Australian society. Zahra heads on a study tour in week one of the term 2 holidays.

Edrolo Information Evening

Many of our VCE subjects at JMSS use Edrolo as a tool to support student learning, revision and exam technique. It is an amazing resource with many aspects to it that students and parents have asked to learn more about.

Consequently, we are running an information session with Mr Mark Drummond from Edrolo at JMSS at 6.00pm on Thursday, 10 May 2018. This session will cover the many features of Edrolo and will be aimed at students and parents completing Year 12 subjects

Canvas Update

Last week parents were sent an email with an individual login and password to access Canvas, the Learning Management System we are using to provide feedback about student performance. Assessment of student work by teachers has been added recently in Year 10 Maths, Year 10 English, and Year 11 Maths Methods and is now available for viewing.
