Old Collegians

In Memory

It is with much sadness that we mourn the loss of Old Collegian Liam Davison and his wife in the recent airline tragedy over the Ukraine.

Liam Patrick Davison (Class of 1974) was an Australian novelist. He was educated at St Bede’s College before enrolling at the Melbourne Teachers College.

Davison was awarded the National Book Council's Banjo Award for Fiction in 1993 and has been shortlisted for several literary prizes such as The Age  Book of the Year Award and the Victorian Premier's Literary Award. His work is characterised by its sharp and perceptive insights into Australian history and landscape and has appeared in many Australian literary anthologies. He was also an occasional reviewer for The Australian  newspaper.

He died along with his wife on 17 July 2014.

Careers Insight Evening

On Tuesday 24th June over 50 Old Collegians braved the formidable Melbourne weather to present to more than 200 Year 10, 11 and 12 students and their parents at the annual Careers Insight Evening.

The evening provides an excellent opportunity for former Collegians to assist present-day students in a simple, practical and time-efficient way. Students and parents attended brief, relaxed, information sessions with our Old Collegians about numerous careers in multiple venues around the school.

Feedback from this year’s event has been incredibly positive and it is terrific to see so many Old Collegians giving their time back to the College. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who presented and also to the Colleges careers department’s Angie Greaves and Jill Gamble whose tireless work ensures this is a very success event on the schools calendar.
