We love to celebrate our students and showcase what they have been up to, both inside and outside the classroom! Below are a few things that happened over the last two weeks.

A great start to Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden for 2020

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden began this week for Year 3 students, with the opportunity to prepare and eat an Asian Cabbage Fried Noodle Salad. 3Z enjoyed learning about the kitchen, working as a team and making their salad dressing on the stove. Our parent helpers also enjoyed their kitchen garden experience! The lunchtime Garden Club has also begun for Year 3 and 4 students. Each student will have the opportunity to work in the garden each term during Monday lunchtime. Planting new plants and harvesting produce ready to be used in our recipes in the kitchen. Perhaps you can make the Asian Noodle Salad  this week for your family.

Commencement assembly

Commencement Assembly 2020 was a wonderful morning to celebrate leadership within the school community, both past and present. We were delighted to have some of our Band 6 recipients from the HSC class of 2019 join us for the assembly to be acknowledged by the School for their efforts. We also inducted our Class of 2020 HSC students, Primary leaders and Beacon leaders.

Thank you to family members who attended and continue to support students in achieving their personal best.

We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!

Succulent garden Year 2

Year 2 students had a wonderful week creating their succulent garden near their classrooms!

They have written up a 'How to' document to share with you. Check it out below!

Shave for a cure

Today Grace Murphy and Harry Withers 'shaved for a cure' to raise much needed funds to help  beat blood cancer!

Students rallied together to watch the shave and donate money. Grace and Harry were able to raise another $367 today over lunch, which has taken their combined total to just over $4,000 raised!

It was wonderful to see such dedication from our students, Grace also will be donating her hair to make wigs.

The school will be registering for Shave for  a Cure  on Monday. Any students interested please speak to Mr Scott.

Equestrian

During the recent summer holiday break, Year 11 student Lucy Nelson proudly represented our school at the Victorian Youth Dressage Championships on the Mornington peninsula at Boneo Park. Lucy and her new mount Matuvu Barocco, aka Rocky, competed in the Senior Preliminary Dressage class. They achieved great scores for their first competition together, placing 7th in both dressage tests.

Coming up in the next few months there are two local Interschool competitions being held. One at Tatura on the 25th and 26th of April and the annual Elmore Equestrian EA Interschool competition during the July school holidays. These Interschool competitions offer a range of riding disciplines and events to cater for all horse and rider combinations.  Both of these events are run very well and showcase many riders from schools around the state. This year it would be fantastic to have a full MAGS team (4 riders) to join Lucy!

If there are any students who have their own horse, enjoy competing in ridden events and is interested in representing Moama Anglican Grammar at an Interschool Equestrian event and would like to find out more you can speak to Lucy around the school or email -lucynelson@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

Photography

The things we do for a good shot! Miss Moon's Photographic and Digital Media class tried their hand at creating Depth of Field using aperture and their surroundings. We are lucky enough to have the Moama Adventure Playpark and the Botanic Gardens nearby to help create some beautiful images. Stay tuned for their final images.
