MATHEMATICS COMPETITIONS

On Thursday 30 July, 49 students from Years 7 to 12 participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition.

The competition was a huge success thanks to the efforts put in by all of the students who participated and Ms Kaspar who organised the event. The school will be notified in the coming weeks of any students who performed well against the state in completing this competition.

Upcoming Competitions

Students across a range of year levels are also working diligently to participate in the Tournament of the Minds program that will take place on Saturday  22 August as well as the Maths Talent Quest which will be held on Wednesday 12 August

We wish all of theses students the best of luck as they prepare for these competitions.

BEAT THE TEACHER

Do you think you have what it takes to ‘Beat The Teacher’ in a brainiac battle of wit and intelligence?

Every Monday a video is put on Compass with a problem for students to solve before their teacher does.

We have purchased a great selection of prizes for the winners to ‘lucky dip’ from each week. Students can win anything from chocolates to iTunes vouchers. The first 5 students to submit their entries in each week are notified to collect their prize from Ms Kaspar in the Ramp Staffroom!

YEAR 7 ALGEBRA

Have you ever wanted to help your child in Mathematics, but didn’t know where to start?

Have you ever thought to yourself that 'Maths just isn’t taught the same way that it used to be'?

If this is you, then we have the perfect solution!

Students studying Year 7 Mathematics are part way through the unit on Patterns and Algebra.  Many students find this to be a difficult topic to get their head around initially. This is why we have created a fully online, differentiated, self paced unit for your child to work from.

You can also find countless videos that you are able to watch with your child to help them with their Mathematics should they get stuck! You can view this website by visiting the link below:

It has numerous hyperlinks to all of the skills that are being covered within your child’s Mathematics class this term, as well as video tutorials and differentiated worksheets that will get your child to explore various concepts related to algebra at a level which is appropriate to them.
