CELEBRATING READING

Premier's Reading Challenge

This week saw a celebration of reading in the school’s Library, as we congratulated those who performed so well in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

Year 7 students have eagerly read many novels and the morning tea held on Thursday was a fantastic acknowledgement of their efforts.

The school is consistently advocating the importance of reading and constantly looking to support students who read outside of designated classes.

Well done to all students  who received an award.

YEAR 12 ENGLISH EXAM

Our Year 12 students now find themselves in their final week of classes before the study break and then the VCAA English exam on Wednesday 28 October.

All Year 12 students have been provided with study strategies to help them best prepare for the exam, with a strong emphasis on students completing practice written pieces and then seeking feedback from their teachers in order to develop their writing.

It is always an exciting time of the year, seeing the culmination of a student’s schooling and the opportunity for them to do their absolute best in the English exam.  Best of luck to all students.

COMMON ASSESSMENT TASKS

At other year levels across the school, Common Assessment Tasks will soon be coming around again, with end of year reporting also approaching. Students from Years 7 to 9 will be completing their second semester writing folios.

They should currently be looking to conference their work with their teachers to ensure they have time to draft and develop their ideas into ‘polished pieces’ for their final submission.

We have seen some wonderful responses to our ‘Thinking Thursday’ prompts, leading to some intriguing written work being submitted to teachers.
