Multicultural Committee News

We welcome you back to school for term four.  I trust you all had time to rejuvenate over the holidays! This term will be a busy and eventful finale to the school year.

The Multicultural Committee had a very productive meeting on Monday, 14 October. The final touches were put into place for the grand opening ceremony of NGSC's annual Multicultural Festival that will be held on Friday, 25 October, 2019. As this year’s theme of the festival is ‘Generations’, we are seeking community members, families, parents, guardians, friends and students of all ages to dress in national cultural costumes and join us in the festive opening parade or come during the day to enjoy the festivities on offer.

The grand event will start with the opening ceremony at 10:00 am showcasing a parade of national and cultural costumes, followed by entertainment and guest speakers.  The festival will officially open to the  whole community from 11:00 am and will go through to 3:00 pm with a myriad of activities, food stalls, amusement rides, sports, various entertainment and so much more.

The Multicultural Festival is well known in the Geelong Community and beyond, and no doubt this year it will be another spectacular event.

I would also like to kindly remind you to please support our 'Home Made Cake Stall' for the Multicultural Festival.  We are looking forward to some of your traditional cakes or sweets treats to sell at the Festival.  We know your generosity will live up to expectations and once again we will continue the tradition of being the best homemade cake stall in Geelong and beyond!

We would be delighted if you could join us at the festival as there is undoubtedly great fun to be had! I am looking forward to seeing you on the day and hope you come to say "Hi" and have a chat. Please tell your friends, family and neighbours to come and join in on the fun!

The next Multicultural Committee meeting will be the final for this year and will be held a week after the Festival on Monday, 4 November, at lunch time (12:45 pm) in the Discussion Room (there will be more information in the next newsletter).

Attention!! Attention!! Attention!!

Cakes! Slices! Muffins! Sweets!

Yes friends, the famous NGSC Multicultural Festival Cake Stall is happening again!  But it can only be as fabulous as we remember if our wonderful families and friends bake lots of cakes/ slices/ muffins/ sweets and send/bring them along for the Multicultural Committee to sell on Friday, 25 October, at the annual Multicultural Festival.

We would appreciate if you could have them at the school by 9:00 am on the morning of the Festival.  It is OK to send them with the students.  If you think you can help please let us know.

Please note, due to health regulations we require a list of ingredients (not the recipe) with the goods.

Forms to write down ingredients are available from members of the Multicultural Committee: Mrs. Dudas, Mrs. Walters and Ms. Nguyen in the VCE staff room or at the front office.

Thank you, on behalf of the Multicultural Committee,

Mrs. Dudas, Ms. Nguyen and Mrs. Walters.

Japanese digital arts collaboration, teamLAB, 'Reversible Rotation' Digital Art Exhibition at Melbourne International Arts Festival

Digital art collaboration, teamLAB are bringing their artistry to the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Their free, 4-screen exhibition runs until 2 November.

"The motion of hundreds of thousands of digital particles are simulated and then projected as cascades of shimmering luminescence, but to a viewer the effect is that of floating in a wave made of light. Rivers and sunbeams, a human hand applying ink to paper, the natural passing of time—these are the subjects that propel forward these pioneers of tomorrow."
