A Visit from South Geelong Primary School

On Friday October 9, 2015, Year 9F invited a class from South Geelong Primary School to visit to participate in some activities.

Ms Plummer’s Grade 5/6 class participated in a selection of activities organised and run by the students in 9F.  The Matthew Flinders girls took them through a variety of digital, physical and mental activities.  These were things like spelling bees, black magic, word games, speaking games, kahoots, minor games and basketball to name a few.

The Year 9 girls did a great job both organising and implementing the activities and it was completely run by them.  They also organised a BBQ lunch and school tours.

Here is some of the feedback from students from South Geelong Primary School. Here are some of the questions they answered:

“If you had to describe your day at MFGSC as a colour, what would it be and why?”

“Yellow, because I had a really fun time”.

“Yellow, because I loved it.”

“Yellow, because I was happy.”

“Orange because it was hot but fun.”

“What symbol or picture sums up your day at MFGSC?”

“A rainbow, because my day was as colourful as a rainbow”.

“A smiley face, because I had one.”

“What comments would you like to make about the day?”

“It was awesome and I loved it.”

“It was really fun and I hope to do it again.”

“Thank you for having us.”

“It was very snazzy”.

And thoughts from the Year 9 girls……..

 “I felt proud.”

“It was harder than I thought.”

“We worked well as a team and prepared well.”

“I was exhausted.”

“I felt I really stepped up to be a leader.”

Overall, the 9F students did a great job, particularly when things did not go to plan.  There was a lot of problem solving and quick thinking on the day. The students need to be congratulated on the success of the day, and be confident that they can transfer some of the skills learned into other classes and parts of their life.

Here are some photos of the day taken by Katelyn Murphy.

Thanks to Mrs. Myers for organising the food and the bus.
