Purpose

Child Safety Policy sets out the school’s commitment and approach to creating and maintaining a child-safe organisation where children and young people are safe and feel safe and provides the policy framework for the school’s approach to the Child Safe Standards.

STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY AND CHILD SAFETY PRINCIPLES

Numurkah Primary School is committed to the safety and well-being of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Our school has zero-tolerance for child abuse. Our school is committed to providing a child-safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Particular attention will be paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and the safety of children with a disability. Every person involved in Numurkah Primary School has a responsibility to understand the critical and specific role they play individually and collectively to ensure that the well-being and safety of all children and young people are at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.

At Numurkah Primary School, our values guide the decisions and behaviours of all members of our school community, including in relation to child safety:

• Learning – acquiring new knowledge, understanding, skills, and values

• Caring - for, understanding, accepting, and appreciating ourselves and others.

 • Responsibility – demonstrating ownership of our actions and words.

 • Respect – for ourselves and building healthy relationships with one another.

Numurkah Primary School has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role they play individually and collectively to ensure that the well-being and safety of all children and young people are at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.
