From the Principal

I am proud of many things that The Hamilton and Alexandra College does, but last Friday’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party took the cake! (Pardon the pun). The joy, fun and sense of community was palpable.  I am confident that Mrs Ann Scott, former Head of Junior School, would have been exceptionally proud!  I thank all the boys and girls for making such an impressive array of hats, to the many parents and teachers involved in setting up, baking and serving the children and most especially, to Mrs Bernadette Milich and her extended family for selflessly creating the magic on Myrniong Oval.

On Friday 1 April, we will be holding the annual College community welcome drinks at myPEC.  Unfortunately, we had to postpone this event from earlier in the year due to Covid restrictions, so we are excited to be sharing the new date and hope that you can make it.  This is a free event, but for catering purposes, please register here https://tha.ac/welcome-drinks-2022.

I would also like to thank those parents who attended our recent College vision workshop.  We shared many inspiring ideas and all agreed that College remains a place where community must play a central role and where a myriad of opportunities can exist.  Parents described College as connected, caring, cohesive, energetic, and kind and all agreed that the school is a proud regional, independent school, with a community that must continue to be bold and brave into the next century.

Finally, I wish all our tennis players, basketballers and cricketers every good fortune this week as we head into summer finals. In particular, I wish every success to our Captain of Rowing, Lucy Roberts and her girl rowers at the Head of School Girls’ Regatta this weekend.   The regatta will attract over 2,200 school girls, from 45 schools across Victoria, competing in 51 events over the three-day regatta.  Make us proud in our 150th year!
