Cadets
The Year 7 Cadets have been busily pruning, digging, weeding and raking to prepare their vegetable gardens. Mrs Langenhoven and Mrs Wright have been very impressed with how hard the students have worked. So far we have planted parsley and basil with many herbs and vegetables planned for the upcoming weeks.
COGGs outdoors!
Mrs Meyerink brought the Primary COGGS assembly to the outdoors at Busselton. It was an opportunity to get together to worship and celebrate God's goodness. Mr Bernabe gave an update on Bambang and each class shared something they wanted to praise God for!
Terrariums
These Terrariums brighten up and bring some green to any indoor space! Beautifully made by students in our Secondary School.
Poverty Day
Poverty Day is an annual event for the high school. It is a non-uniform day and there is a gold coin donation. This year, the money is going to UNICEF to help this organisation care for children displaced by the war in Ukraine. We also made a "flag garden" to express our solidarity with those suffering in the war. We built our usual bottle cap floor mural and ran our annual shack building competition. Benjamin was awarded a bag of Freddos for creating the most water proof shack.
The winner of the gold coin dress up - sporting an elegant ensemble of Op-Shop fashions!
New leaders
A big congratulations goes out to these students who have recently been awarded leader badges! They are part of the team that is writing the school production. They have been meeting on a Thursday after school since the beginning of Term Four last year. Their combined creativity is taking shape in an amazing script. The aim is to complete the script by the end of this term with a view to beginning full rehearsals next term.
Science and Icecream
Our Year 3's were very clever scientists investigating heat and how it transfers from one thing to another. Here they are making ice-cream in a bag to explore the heat transfer that occurs between ice and the milk/cream mixture to create ice-cream. Here's cheers to test tasting!
Maths Towers
In Year 1 and 2 at Dunsborough, we've combined the whole collection of towers and discovered that counting in 10s is super fast. Can you guess the total?
Wellness wander
On Tuesdays we do our Dunsborough campus Wellness Wander, and we looked out for animal scats and learned about the Karda Lizard, helped by Toastie's friend Grace the Lizard. She sure was cheeky!
This has kick started inquiry into these fascinating animals. Check out the photos on Facebook to see the lizard on Mr Mullender's head!
Colour
In Pre Primary we have been exploring primary and secondary colours. We have created our own colour wheels, made colours by overlapping different mediums in primary colours and have been observing and ranking light and dark colours.
As part of our celebration of the many greens that God has made in nature, we took our colour observer swatches out into the bush with local artist Heidi Emma (aka Mrs Mullender!) and practiced honing in on a colour to observe it.
We then made our own shades of green and interpreted what we noticed of light and shadow to make these paintings.
Fridays!
Multi-age, unstructured, intentional time for play happens at our school every Friday at Dunsborough. Its a great way to end the week!
