Principal's Message

(Heads, Hearts & Hands)

Liam Buckley

Dear Families

It is a real pleasure and privilege to see you all at drop off and pick up. We are hoping to have parent helpers in our classrooms soon too. Thank you to everyone that helped to make our community as vibrant as possible and for supporting this treasure of a school.

St Joseph's Family Night

What a wonderful afternoon! Thank you so much to all the Parents and Friends who made Saturday possible. There was so much fun and laughter and a reminder of what life will be like again very soon. See P&F page for more info.

Our children and staff celebrated Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday last week.

The children were wonderful in Mass and especially our Foundation children who were joining us for their first full week at school!

Thank you to our school leaders for supporting and looking after our youngest students.

As we enter Lent - we pray for all people caught in the horror of war. May solutions and peace be found. We pray for all all the innocent lives lost and impacted by the events in Ukraine.

Catholic Education Week

In 2022, Catholic Education Week will take place from Sunday 13 March to Sunday 20 March. More details on the RE page.

The 40 days of Lent correspond to Jesus’ own 40 days spent in the desert. On this First Sunday of Lent the gospel speaks of the temptations of Jesus in the desert. Forty is a significant number in Scripture and usually means a necessary and not-so-comfortable prelude to something new. For Jesus, it was a period of preparation for his coming mission, one which would be governed by the law of the Spirit rather than a law chiselled in stone. By preaching a message that was so different, Jesus was making things very uncomfortable for many! Perhaps this includes us too!

Thank you Miss Wood and amazing school leaders for organising and turning 'pancake Tuesday' into a fun and tasty learning experience!

International Women's Day

We will be supporting a local shelter for the victims of domestic abuse. A gold coin for a Superdooper on Tuesday after school will help raise funds for such a worthy cause.

Imagine a gender equal world.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women's equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

School Board

The School Advisory Council (SAC) met last week and meets once per term. The SAC consists of parents and staff who will serve for at least another year. I would like to thank Geraldine and Greg for their hard work and tireless support of St Josephs.

Dolphin Ambassadors

Thank you Mrs Murray and Year 6 parents for making our Dolphin Ambassador Day happen. The students learnt lots about the bay and the creatures that we live the waters.

Year 5/6 had morning tea after Mass on Friday. It was incredible civilised and we can't wait for parents to join us in Term 2.

Foundation first full week!

Our Foundation students experienced their first Specialist Program on Wednesday and there was lots of excitement all round. It is always so special to see our youngest children transitioning fully into school. It is a credit to Miss Wood and to all the parents for such a smooth and happy start to school life and each of our new students brings their own lovely smile and joy to our community. Well done Class of 2028!!

Around the classes

Wellbeing Classes taught by Sarah Fuller offer our students opportunities to learn explicitly about what keeps us 'well' and strategies for 'being well' as well as developing emotional literacy, self awareness and self - regulation.

Sarah is a great addition to our team. Read more on the Wellbeing page.
