End of Year Awards

Wednesday 10 December the College gathered to recognise the efforts of all students. Some students received awards acknowledging significant performances and contributions. All students received their End of Year Report, detailing their learning over Semester 2 and any class based awards when they gathered in Homegroups. For each class an award for achievement recognises academic performance. An Effort & Application award for each class recognises the student who shows great commitment to their learning and supports the learning of others.
The purpose of the Awards Evening is to recognise students who have excelled in their academic pursuits.
The First Place in Subject Award goes to the student who has achieved the number 1 ranking of all the students in the subject. Students performing at this level have achieved these results through hard work, typically, they are adaptable, they ask questions, work consistently week by week, use their individual talents well and work on areas they recognise they need to improve.
Students who have consistently applied themselves to their own learning were recognised. In the Semester reports, teachers indicate students’ application to learning as A, B, C or D. These students have achieved all ‘A’s’ in Application to Learning in all subjects they study. This indicates commitment to most important qualities – consistency and application to their own learning, and at the same time, respecting the learning of others.
Students who have achieved a further level of excellence were Clare Arragon, Georgia Kelleher, Abbey Morton, Gabrielle Shaw, Annalise Skidmore, Euan Chandler, Daniel O’Reilly, Montanna Shepherd and Ashleigh Smith.
These students have excelled in ALL areas of learning and their outstanding commitment and hard work was acknowledged. As well as being awarded all A Grades for each of the subjects they study, they have also been awarded A grades in all the Approach to Learning categories for each subject they study. This is an indication of extraordinary commitment to learning and academic excellence.
The RSL Citizenship Award is donated by the Wagga Wagga Sub-branch RSL Award and was awarded to Tahlia Apps.
The 2014 Year 10 winner of the ADF Long Tan Award at Mater Dei Catholic College was Bailey McKay.
The Australian Catholic University Award for sustained application and effort over a 4 year period from Year 7 – 10 goes to Montana Nabkey.
