Advent Liturgy

AWARDS NIGHT ADVENT LITURGY – WEDNESDAY 10 DECEMBER, 2014
"Joyful, Joyful"
Joyful, joyful
Lord we adore Thee
God of Glory, Lord of Love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Hail Thee as the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light
Fill us with the light
Oh, fill us with the light of day
Things can bring us happiness, but it is people and relationships that bring us joy.
The greatest resource of a school is its people – the students, the staff and the parents. Mater Dei Catholic College celebrated the fruits of this three way partnership at our annual Awards Night on Wednesday. Authentic and strong relationships exist in our College community founded on Catholic faith, justice and love, through inclusiveness, placing the learner at the centre and by seeking excellence and wisdom.
Wonderful experiences are created when people are real with each other. And that is what the people at Mater Dei Catholic College do. They create wonderful experiences that are expressions of how we strive to live life to the full as we “Live God’s Message”.
Thank you to all the students who shared their talents in the “Joyful” Awards Night Advent Liturgy… the singers, dancers, musicians, readers and student leaders. A special thanks to Ms Michel for the way she prepared the musicians, dancers and singers, encouraging them to share their gifts and to Mr Gilham for the manger and Mrs O’Donoghue for her behind the scenes organisation.
God has a plan for each and every one of us. The plan is unique for each person and no one else can carry out this plan. It unfolds slowly and sometimes mysteriously. Part of God’s plan for me is to move schools and roles in 2015. It has been a privilege and a joy, to work alongside and with, the most incredibly gifted and generous staff, students and parents at Mater Dei Catholic College. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole College community for the last three years. I have many memories of my time here that I will treasure. Thank you for your openness and for filling me with light every day!
My prayer for our College community is a blessed, holy and safe Christmas season.
Always be joyful. Always pray. Always give thanks.
