Artes Escénicas Performing Arts

¡Baila como si nadie estuviera mirando! (Dance as if no one is looking!)

Bienvenidos a Artes Escénicas (Performing Arts)

Performing Arts is taught in Spanish, incorporating the Inquiry topics into it.

We have started with drama this term and will be looking and exploring drama through our emotions, bodies, communication and including our Literacy skills.

One of the most exciting changes this year in the Specialist programs, are students being taught in house colours and even getting a chance to wear their house on their Specialist day! The unique creativity shown by all students has been impressive! This has also supported in developing a team work culture, showing pride in their House team! We encourage you to keep wearing your house colours on Specialist days please, gracias! :)

F/1

It has been wonderful to meet our new Foundation students and see them settle in so well with our Grade 1 students. They are all so enthusiastic and keen on participating in Artes Escénicas (Performing Arts). It's been so fun to begin to exploring our emotions and expressing them in Spanish, such as 'feliz , triste y enfadado'(happy, sad and angry). This has connected well with their Inquiry topic 'How can I do my best at school?' Some of our favourite Drama games were 'Sillas emocionales musicales' (Emotional musical chairs), where we got to play musical chairs but then act out the Spanish emotion on the chair, e.g. 'emocionado' (excited). We are focusing on using the film, 'Al reves' (Inside out) as a focus in developing a play around our 'emociones' (emotions) in Spanish. ¡Increíble, pequeños! (Incredible, little one's!)

2/3

I've really enjoyed seeing the creativity shine through our 2/3s eagerly in Artes Escénicas (Performing Arts). They have enjoyed exploring drama games and plays linking it to their Inquiry topic this term, 'What are the strengths of my peers and myself as learners?' We have focused on 'lugares de la escuela' (places at school) like 'La biblioteca y la oficina' (The library and the office).  Each house team voted on a specific place from school and have all begun to plan a play around that place, focusing on our values. We have also been working on how to be a 'Colaborador' (Collaborator), as part of our keystone this term. One of our favourite Drama games was 'Actúa y Reacciona )Act and react), where they selected a gesture with a line they would say and their partner had to react to that. This has begun to develop their improvisation skills. ¡Excelente a todos! (Excellent everyone!) :)

4/5/6

It's been brilliant to begin our program with the keen 4/5/6s in Artes Escénicas (Performing Arts). They have enjoyed exploring drama games and plays linking it to their Inquiry topic this term, 'What are the strengths of my peers and myself as learners?' We have focused on 'los valores de nuestra escuela' (the values of our school) 'Cuidar, Responsabilidad, Creatividad y Curiosidad' (Care, Responsibility, Creativity and Curiosity). Each house team voted on a specific value from school and have all begun to plan a play around that value and how we show that at school. We have been revising on being a 'Colaborador' (Collaborator), as part of our main keystone this term. One of our favourite Drama games was 'Autobús de personajes' (Charatcer bus), where they replicated the personality of a character getting on a bus. If the character was over excited, the rest of the people on the bus had to act the same. This has continued to build upon their improvisation skills, as well as character development.

¡Fantástico comienzo a todos! (Fantastic start everyone!)
