The Five Senses
After reading with your child, get them to describe something from the book using the 5 senses (what it… looks like / feels like / smells like / tastes like / sounds like) You may need to prompt your child with questions and brainstorm different words together.
E.g. Birthday Cake: Looks – round and can be different colours, though is usually brown. Feels – spongy, soft, and moist. Smells – so good it makes your mouth water. Tastes – sweet and yummy.
Using the five senses can help build your child’s descriptive writing vocabulary.
This also links in beautifully with Maths- Measurement strand. Take this further, by cooking with your family. Discuss the math involved with measuring the ingredients. If you have a larger family, how would you increase the ingredients to feed everyone?

St. Mary’s Choir
We had an overwhelming response with students from F-6 wishing to participate in a Choir group during 2022. Choir members have made the commitment to perform on special occasions including at our St. Mary’s Parish.
Practices will be in the Auditorium during Wednesday lunch times with Mrs Dunstan & Mrs Morris, after they’ve finished their lunch. Stay tuned for exciting musical singing to come ; )
