Principals Reflections

Whaea Jax

Kia Ora Whānau.

We are back, and so are most of our children. This week we are 89% returned. Congratulations whanau.

We are still in Orange so we are continuing with some modifications to the norm to cope with this challenge.

We encourage students and staff to wear masks in the classroom.

We allow parents onsite, but ask that you wear a mask when onsite, and ask that you limit your time onsite as best you can.

NEW PLAN AT END OF DAY:

As of Monday 9 May, we will open the gates at 2:35 pm for parents of juniors to come onsite and collect their children at 2:40 pm. Please wear a mask while onsite and please do not go into the classroom. This will help avoid the crowding at the front of our school and will help on wet days too.

We are training older brothers and sisters to be at their Junior sibling's classroom IF they know parents are coming onsite to collect them.

We now dismiss Juniors and their older siblings at 2:40 pm, and everyone else at 2:50 pm. This helps reduce crowding at the end of the day.

Please remember to time your arrival to match your child’s finishing time to support that reduced crowding.

There were real traffic jams in our Drop Off Zone and on Sturges Road on Monday, Wednesday and today, so timing your arrival is really important.

With 45 minutes for lunch, children are receiving an extra 15 minutes of learning time in the afternoon and gaining the benefits of a shortened lunchtime as outlined in the last newsletter.

With new Covid-19 variants and challenges, our plans need to be flexible and will change as the situation changes. We will do all we can to keep children safe while doing our best to limit the disruption to parents as much as possible.

As always, your understanding and support are both greatly appreciated.

Remember - if you have questions or concerns - email me at macash@mac.com and I will get back to you asap

Take care all.
