Students engage in exciting learning opportunities

Well Week 6 already - WOW that was fast! I hope everyone is going to have an awesome long weekend, a time to relax and reset ready for the latter half of the term. There is a lot to come in the remaining weeks with the Twilight Swimming Carnival, learning conversations and a whole bunch of learning in between.

Across the School of Innovation there have been some fantastic learning opportunities, with students engaging in real-world topics, exploring the war in Ukraine, learning about First Nations Dreaming and links to our Caritas mission for the term.

On another note, Wellbeing Officer Mel Formica and I took 10 amazing students from the School of Innovation and School of Possibilities to Melbourne to be a part of the Youth Leadership Academy Australia conference. The day was long, with a 6:00am departure from the college, but well worth it. It was a phenomenal experience for the students and it was great to see them interact with other students from colleges around Victoria, with the speakers (Will, Heather and Tari) and two internationally recognised workers in the youth sector, Hunter Johnson, founder of the Man Cave, and Holly Ransom, who represented Australian youth at the G20 Summit. With 7,000 students tuning in in person and online, the participation gave Mel and I goosebumps as the students went to new levels with their responses and agency. A massive thank you to the amazing students we took down to Melbourne.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and students for being so flexible this week. It really is testament to the college spirit with so many people jumping in when needed to help out. Students have been great, with many equally digging deep to facilitate their growth.

Again, have a great weekend and I will see all our awesome students and staff on Tuesday.
