What are we doing in PDPHE in Term 1?

 

PDHPE comprises of both Health Studies and Physical Education lessons. PDHPE provides opportunities for students to explore a range of topics related to health and wellbeing and develop their health literacy and skills. Students develop and refine their movement skills in a variety of settings and have many opportunities to collaborate and achieve goals with their peers.

 

In Term 1 students have been focusing on the following in PDHPE lessons;

Year 7

Year 7 are learning about their personal identity, strengths, and ways to connect with their peers and the school community. Students will explore behaviours that contribute to positive wellbeing. In Physical Education lessons students have been participating in modified games focusing on their fundamental movement skills of throwing, catching, kicking and hitting.

 

Year 8

Year 8 are learning about the concept of diversity and are exploring family types and community groups. Students will be creating a written investigation of an individual who represents inclusiveness and celebrates diversity. In Physical Education lesson students have been participating in modified target games.

Year 9

Year 9 are learning about essential relationship skills and exploring concepts such as resilience, ethics and conflict resolution. Students will be creating a written evaluation on the actions they undertake in PDHPE and how they contribute to respectful relationships. In Physical Education lessons students have been participating in volleyball, mini tennis and badminton.

 

Year 10

Year 10 are learning about strategies to improve and maintain their mental health. Students will be utilising a range of wellbeing activities and completing a journal reflecting on their progress. In Physical Education lessons student have been participating in skills-based activities and small-sided games.
