Inquiry

Connecting to the past

Our focus for inquiry this term was 'Connecting to the Past'.   We introduced the topic and enjoyed finding out what our children already knew about past family life, school life and other areas such as fashion and games.  Hands up if you owned a hand held Donkey Kong console or a Rubik's cube!

To start the topic off we had the children look at past objects, photographs, games, toys and cards.

It was quite interesting listening to the children guess what some of the items might have been used for.

We also had an excursion to Mont De Lancey!  We had so much fun.  The weather was fantastic.  We were very lucky to have the sun out while we experienced many olden day activities.  We would like to thank all the parent helpers who assisted on the day.  All the children enjoyed viewing the museum of olden day artifacts.  They went to an olden day church and school as well.  The Blacksmith and Wood-turner showcased their skills and the children enjoyed participating in activities of yesteryear such as damper making, hoop throws and stilt walking.

Currently,  we are working on our Inquiry projects where children are creating olden day houses, paper dolls with olden day clothes, vintage cars, classic recipes, replicas of a classroom from the past and towns like Sovereign Hill.
