The Principal's Report

Junior Lord Mayor

We are excited to share that Daniel in Year 5 has been selected as one of the seven finalists for the Junior Lord Mayor Competition.  They had a record number of entries this year, all of a high standard.

Daniel saw an item on the news about the Junior Lord Mayor competition and the application process. He had to find out about Melbourne's history, write what they loved most about Melbourne and what they would do to improve Melbourne. Daniel loved that lane ways and street art in Melbourne, as well as the arcades. He thought that an improvement would be to add decks with veggie patches and flowers on top of railways to make Melbourne more environmentally sustainable.

On Wednesday he will be heading to the Town Hall for a face to face interview and conversation about himself as part of the process. The panel of judges will then make the decision and the announcement of the Junior Lord Mayor will happen on this day.

We wish him well and are proud of his efforts to get this far in the competition.

Good luck Daniel!

Baby news

Congratulations to Claire Brennan and Jamie on the safe arrival of their baby Evelyn. She was born on August 7th and weighed 3.41kg.

All are doing well.

Early to School

During the week we sent a message to all families about the start time for school, reminding everyone that we have teachers on duty from 8.45 - 9.00 am before school and from 3.30 -3.45 pm after school. The legal requirement of the Department of Education and Training is that we have the yard supervised during this time.

Our students need to be supervised by their parents outside of these times if they are in the yard, or they need to attend Out of School Hours Care. We have students arriving as early as 8.00 am, students who arrive this early need to be booked into OSHClub.

These arrangements are put in place to ensure your child is safe in the yard, thank you for your support with this matter.

Tik Tok

This week we have been learning about Tik Tok, we thought it important to share with you some information about this app.

We all know that supervision is vital for online time, with parents always having the passwords for the device and all apps that their child uses.  There are so many different social media apps that students could be exposed to, we aim to continue providing you with information about many of them. Of note with Tik Tok is the 12+ age rating in the app store.

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you to the families who completed the Parent Opinion Survey. We appreciate you taking the time to offer feedback to the school. When the survey results are returned to the school they will be presented to School Council.

Foundation 2020

Do you have a child starting school in 2020? Have you filled in your enrollment form? We would like to have all of our Foundation enrollments set within the next couple of weeks. We have sent confirmation letters to all those families who have enrolled their child in Foundation. When all confirmations have been returned we will be able to start planning our classes and work towards confirming how many Foundation classes we are able to have in 2020.

Are you leaving Boroondara Park PS at the end of 2019?

We are starting to plan for the 2020 school year. If you know that your child is not returning to BPPS for the 2020 school year then please take the time to provide details via the Google Form link below.
