Wellbeing

Wellbeing at Dundas PS
The Wellbeing Framework supports schools to create safe, supportive learning environments. At Dundas PS, our processes and practices align with this framework, enabling all students to connect, succeed and thrive. Pivotal documents to support the wellbeing of our students, are:
DPS Values and Expectations Matrix - a set of behavioural expectations, for all settings within the school, underpinned by our school values of being Safe, Respectful, Successful Learners.
DPS Awards Tree - outlines our systems to acknowledge and celebrate the positive behaviours demonstrated by our students.
PBL Focus
The PBL focus for Weeks 1 and 2 is "I am successful learner at all times". Parents are encouraged to support our focus by discussing this expectation with your child and exploring how they display learner values at school and at home.
Important Road Safety Reminder
It is important to remember when walking near roads, on footpaths, near driveways and in car parks to always:
- hold your child’s hand. Until they are at least 8 years old children need to hold an adult's hand. Until they are at least 10, children should be closely supervised by an adult and hold hands when crossing the road.
- talk to your child about road safety. Talk about how to be safe when near roads. Be a good role model.
- point out road safety dangers and differences in new environments. This is especially important when in different surroundings. Roads, footpaths and pedestrian facilities may look different in other areas.
Road Safety Information - Walk Safely Brochure (English), (Korean), (Chinese - simplified), (Arabic). Other languages are available here.
Got It! Getting on Track In Time
Working together to improve difficult behaviour.
Got It! is a new program supported by the NSW Department of Health, and the NSW Department of Education. Our school has been offered a place in the pilot phase of this exciting new program.
The Got It! team will be running a 10 week program for children (Kindergarten and Stage 1) and their parents, who are having problems with challenging and disruptive behaviour - at home or at school. The program will give families the opportunity to be part of a fun and supportive group that can improve child behaviour and family relationships and help parents deal with difficult behaviours.
Challenging and anti-social behaviour often causes problems in many areas of a child's life. It can also be stressful for their family, friends and community.
Sadly, these children can often be seen as 'naughty', rather than as children who are struggling with organising their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Got It! aims to give support and practical help to children and their families, and also to support the school community to help children get the most out of the opportunities available to them.
The Got It! team is looking forward to working at Dundas Public School, and would like to thank the whole school community for your commitment to improving the well-being of children and families at our school.
An information session will be held in Week 3. All families will be asked to complete a questionnaire for each child in Kindergarten and Year 1. Please help us by returning this form as soon as possible. Please direct any specific enquiries to your child's teacher.
