Senior School

End of term 2

It has been another super-busy term for the students in Senior School.  There have been a number of highlights and we would like to thank all of the parents who have given up their time to help out.  We look forward to seeing everyone back in Term 3.  Finally, good luck to Ruby Silver and her family as they embark on a new and exciting journey.

Student Report

This semester, the Year 5/6s did a number of amazing activities.  We have been to the Swimming Carnival, Athletics Day, Cross Country, Inter-school sports, Night of the Notables, Lady Northcote camp, and we went to the National Gallery of Victoria.

In Term 1, the whole school went to Glen Waverley Athletics track. The activities were shot put, discus, high jump and a few races. It was a hot day but everyone had lots of fun

Also in Term 1 and 2, Senior School participated in summer and winter sports. The basketball team made it to the finals but unfortunately lost their game. The rounders team also made it to the finals but lost too. We would like to thank everyone who helped out with inter-school sports.

In Term 2, the whole school walked to Billabong Park and ran laps around the oval. It was a rainy day but we managed to still run. We also conducted our Night of the Notables which was a busy part for the first few months of the year. On the night, everyone looked fantastic and the work was fabulous.

And finally, Senior School also went on their camp to Lady Northcote. On the final night, we watched the Tooth Fairy and packed for a long trip the next day.

Terracotta Warriors

On the 20th of June,  5/6s went to the Melbourne exhibition to see the Terracotta Warriors and learn about them.  When we arrived at the exhibition, Lily the tour guide told us the history of the army and more treasures that archaeologists have found.  After the presentation, we walked to the museum and saw the Terracotta Warriors and Cai Guo Qiang artworks, which includes sculptures of birds that were made out of porcelain.   Most of his artworks use gunpowder.   We also watched videos of his artwork being made and looked at ancient artifacts which include amour, vases, toy fish, daggers, necklaces and stone lions.   We all gathered into the main foyer and had lunch.   Once we finished lunch, we went to art room to make our Terracotta Warriors.   We used a pen to carve into a foam Terracotta Warrior.   Once you finish carving your warrior, you roll paint on to the foam and stick the piece of foam on to a piece of paper. We all had a fantastic time making our foam Terracotta Warriors.   We finished our art work and then it was time to go back to school.   Overall, our excursion to the city was sensational and we had a fun time learning!
