STEM  URBAN MICROBAT PROJECT NEWS

Thank you to the Year 3s and 4s who assisted in painting and screwing together the microbat boxes this week. Thanks also to Robbie’s partner Frank who gave up his time to cut the wood and assist in preparing the boxes for full assembly.

As part of the grant, two high quality red filter torches were purchased for spotlighting nocturnal animals. A wildlife acoustic device which plugs into I-pads was also purchased for detecting microbats through the hardware that converts echolocation signals into spectrographs. We look forward now to organising an evening where Year 3 and 4 students share their learning with the community and have a spotlighting night. Keep an eye out for this event on compass in coming weeks.
