K-2 Classroom Visits

K-2 classrooms have been busy this year teaching our students to read. We have been focussing on phonics and the skills of blending to help students learn to read. Our teachers and students have been making such amazing progress that we have had a few visitors come to see what we are doing here at Woodland Rd Public School.

In week 7, Tahmoor P.S came to learn from us as they get ready to embark on a similar journey. Teachers visited all K-2 classrooms and saw our teachers explicitly teaching reading skills. Both our students and teachers impressed our visitors with the progress we have made as a school so far this year.

Then in Week 9, our 3-6 teachers and Mr Harris visited our K-2 classes, during professional learning to see what early reading theory looks like in practice. They saw explicit teaching, differentiation and high student engagement happening in every classroom.
