Leadership

Welcome back for Term Three

Welcome everyone to term three, we hope our families were able to enjoy some quality time during the holidays.

NAIDOC Day

This week we hit the ground celebrating NAIDOC week with some fabulous activities for the students. The day started with a smoking ceremony and the day concluded with learning traditional dancing. As I listened to Uncle Trevor and watched the children and parents participate it really was a very humbling experience. The importance we as educators, as parents play in supporting our children understand this countries very long and rich history can not be understated. For the students to present the flags so proudly as our symbols was very moving and I congratulate all involved with this project, especially Hannah [Mai mum] who was instrumental in developing the graphic symbols with such sensitivity. The day finished with such energy and all the children were engaged. This has been a great success and we will certainly make it a regular event for the future.

Covid - Term 3

I need to unfortunately update families with the current situation for our school community. As we are all aware Covid continues to wreak havoc and combined with the winter flu season. While we are only starting a new term, we are already experiencing high staff absenteeism as well as high student absenteeism. Today we had six teachers from the Foundation/1 Are absent. Due to replacement teacher shortages, we had non-teaching and teaching staff replacing absent staff, this included cancelling visual Arts teacher, something we have avoided all year.

RATS available

As reported in the media schools will continue to receive RATs for the remainder of the year. We will be sending packets of RATs home next week with your child/ren. Pleas be reminded that if your family does contract Covid please follow the expected guidelines and quarantine.

2/3 Camp reminder

Shortly students will be heading off some on their first adventure away from home. Please make sure that payments have been finalised prior to the children attending the camp. For those children who will not be attending the camp they are expected to be at school as there will be an alternate operating for them.

School Performance

This term starts our wonderful journey of artistic development that will in term four conclude with a wonderful theatrical experience for parents and students. For this to be the best it can be we need our families to support their children this term as they learn the important element of dance, song and acting. Please not the performance will be on two nights and all students are expected to perform on both nights. Please make sure you keep up over the term by reading the newsletter, checking the newsletter calendar and keep an eye on SENTRAL calendar. Carol, Laura, Margaret and Raema will post information during this term.
