PRODUCTION 2022

"From Trash to Treasure"

I am very excited to be organising the Newlands 2022 whole school production which will be staged in Term 4!

This will be my 33rd school production and I still have the same passion and enthusiasm as I have had with all the others over the years.

Whole school events such as this not only provide opportunities to foster individual talents, but help develop self confidence, collaboration, cooperative learning, a sense of community and of course musical, dance and dramatic skills

"From Trash to Treasure" is a story about friendship, kindness, resilience, differences and acceptance.

It includes dancing, singing, dialogue, pirates, teddy bears, circus performers, fairy tale characters, and much more.

We are very lucky to have secured Union Hall at Latrobe University for 2 nights in October (& a dress rehearsal day - Monday 10th October).

PERFORMANCES WILL BE:

TUESDAY OCTOBER 11th @ 7PM

AND

THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th @ 7PM

All students are expected to perform on both nights and we ask that if, for some reason, they are unable to attend, (e.g. due to a booked holiday), that you inform us as soon as is possible.

Ifyour child/children attend lessons or training of some kind on those nights, which may clash with the performances, we ask that perhaps it may be possible to do a swap for performance week, in order that they can attend this special whole school event.

Students across the school have already begun rehearsals, which will form most of their Music and Performing Arts lessons for this term. All students will appear on stage 3 times and I hope they may have already started talking about it at home.

Last term, Laura and I auditioned many students for the main 5 characters and had so much talent, we decided to double cast those parts. This means we will have 1 cast of 5 perform on Tuesday and the other on the Thursday.

We even have a couple of students prepared to perform singing solos, which I am super excited about.

What do they wear?   How do we get tickets?   What time do they need to be there?

As we progress through the term, more information will be published on this page.

Parents will be notified about costume requirements, tickets, bus transport to the dress rehearsal, times for arriving on the night and any other arrangements necessary.

Please mark the dates in your calendar/diary if you haven't already done so, and don't hesitate to ask if there are any questions at this stage.
