National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

Now in its 22nd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

This year's book was "Family Tree".

Senior Secondary PBL

Senior Secondary cohort are working together on our Project Based Learning goal to make our school a more sustainable place to help save our Earth.

At our school there is a garden and greenhouse area that we have started to tidy up and replant some already growing seedlings that were planted by the Agrifoods students. We wrote a letter to Bunnings to ask if they could donate some stuff that we need.

Recycling is something we are already doing and we aim to use the money from containers for change to buy seedlings and equipment to build a successful garden. Then hopefully we can sell the plants and food grown to the community.

We also want to start up a school Coffee Shop that teachers can buy coffee. They will need to bring a reusable cup and we will put the coffee grinds into the garden soil to help the plants grow.

Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week 27 May - 3 June.

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, “Be Brave. Make Change.” is a challenge to all Australians - individuals, families, communities, organisations and government - to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

This year we are asking everyone to make change beginning with brave actions in their daily lives - where they live, work, play and socialise.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. #NRW2022 #BeBraveMakeChange

Michael, a past parent of RNSS brought his amazing trike in to our school last week for the kids to look at and sit on. We loved it! Thanks for coming in Michael!
