From the Principal

Lauren Amey

Hello!

I have had the privilege of stepping in to the Principal position since Steven Barclay has been on leave. As the 5 weeks in the position comes to an end, I want to make mention of students we have at Peterborough High School and the commitment they have demonstrated to their learning.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Principal and am so proud of all the success our students have had in their learning this term.

We would like to congratulate Miss. Joycie Kee who has won the Middle Years and Inclusion Leader role for the remainder of the year back filling Mrs. Bruce while she is on leave.

We also say goodbye to Mrs. Mary Gazzola as she returns to Adelaide and we wish her luck in her next adventure.

We want to extend a warm welcome to  Mrs. Danielle Malone as the new Art teacher for the remainder of 2022. She is a familiar face at our site over the past 12 months and I know the students will enjoy seeing her more often.

The Student Free day on June 14th was spent up-skilling staff in the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum.

The Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC) is a respectful relationships and child safety curriculum for children and young people from age 3 to year 12. It teaches children to:

  • recognise abuse and tell a trusted adult about it
  • understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching
  • understand ways of keeping themselves safe.

The KS:CPC is mandated in all public preschools and schools and is taught every year by teachers who have completed a full day KS:CPC training course. It is a world-class, evidence-based child safety program that is used by a range of other Australian and international schools.

Semester 2 started at the beginning of the week. I hope students settle into their new timetables. We cannot wait to see what successes our students will have in Semester 2.
