CSC Reading Challenge

At the beginning of Term 2 members of our school community were invited to read One Million words between April 9th and June 17th as part of our annual Reading Challenge. Participants were able to read whatever they liked in a range of formats, including novels, audio books, picture books, magazine/newspaper articles, poetry and graphic novels/comics.

The CSC Reading Challenge was embraced by both students and staff alike, with the weekly word-count update eagerly anticipated, and over a third of all participants reading at least one million words.

Let's Get Behind Pru!

It is always a pleasure to acknowledge our students inside and outside the classroom - today we celebrate the achievements of Prudence Robinson in year 10.

Pru has been a competitive rider since the young age of five. Recently competing in interschool competitions representing Castlemaine Secondary College with her horse Davina. Mainly competing in three events; senior secondary preliminary dressage, senior secondary 80 cm combine training and senior secondary 80 cm horse trials (80cm is the height of the jumps).

During the school holidays on the 11th and 12th of April Prudence competed at 2022 Equestrian Victorian interschool state champions. Competed in the class secondary senior preliminary, in the test 1B I came first with 71.25% and in the test 1C where she came forth with 66.96% . These results allowed her to qualify to compete in the ride off the next day. In the ride off, Prudence completed the 1C test again with the A judge giving  73.21% and the B  judge giving 67.5% with a total percentage being 70.35%. This result secured her the title of champion senior secondary preliminary.

We are so proud Prudence's achievements and with this win she has qualified to compete at Nationals in Sydney for Victoria and our school.
