Year 7, 8, 9 Sport

Exemplary behaviour is key to ensuring a successful sports program. Students are reminded of the following expectation at St Mary's, which is important during sports afternoons.

Demonstrate respectful and appreciative behaviour to your Sports Teacher at all times. One example is that when the teacher addresses a group of students, all students are expected to listen.

Please encourage your child to ensure they act in a way that is positive and respectful for all.

Students must read the Daily Notices on Monday 12th June to be organised for the lesson in period 5 & 6.

We wish all our CISSA finalist the best for Wednesday 14th June. Check the Daily Notices on Monday for information on buses, venues, and time of departure.

Extracurricular Sporting – Term 2

Club Netball – Undefeated Streak continues!

On Tuesday night St Mary’s played a hard-fought game against South Cairns Cutters. With only 6 players on the court, the girls played in alternative positions but were able to hold their own, despite being a player down.

During the last quarter Cutters pushed out to a 3 goal lead, but a dedicated commitment from the team brought the score back to level by the final whistle. It was an impressive fight considering the team were one player down and playing out of position.

The team remains undefeated for the season. Our next game is at 7.30pm against Tigers.

U15 Boys Bill Turner Soccer Competition

The U15 Boys Bill Turner Soccer team has represented our College with pride. During their knock out game against Cairns SHS last Friday, this young side never gave up despite the constraints and pressures on the team. The absence of key players in certain positions meant some of our boys had to adapt and play out of their position which made finishing off our attack difficult at times. The boys made a tremendous effort in defence and slowed down the Cairns SHS attack. Sadly the boys did not win therefore are eliminated from the competition. The team certainly shows great potential in the years to come and it will be exciting to see what they will be able to achieve.

The College would like to thank Mr Nathan Haydon and Mr Anthony Antonellis for coaching and managing our U15 Boys Bill Turner Soccer Team.

TCS & Peninsula Trials

Parents/ carers will need to contact the College regarding any school absence due to students attending Peninsula trials which occur during school hours. TCS trials occur afterschool.

Students are reminded to collect signed Peninsula paperwork from the HPE staffroom to take to their TCS trials. Students will NOT be allowed to trial if they do not have this paperwork.

Students and their families are responsible for:

Logging onto the Student Portal to obtain:

  • TCS Calendar (this tells you when your trial is on)
  • Peninsula paperwork (complete, hand in & collect to take to trial)
  • Notice of Trial (This document is uploaded to TCS Sport app within two weeks of trial)
  • Follow the timelines outlined in the Peninsula Paperwork Process – See below:

Instructions on how to obtain access through the Student Portal have been provided each week at the end of this Bulletin – See below:

  1. Go to the TCS Sport tile in the Student Portal

  2. In the ‘Key Paperwork’ section print the ‘Notice of Trial’ information for your sport trial. These will be uploaded as soon as we receive them. If it is not there for your trial, check again soon or see the sport staff in the HOB staffroom.

  3. Complete the ‘Peninsula Student Permission Details Booklet’ immediately and bring it to the HPE staffroom for signing – paperwork needs to be submitted AT LEAST one week prior to the trial date. If it comes in later than this, we cannot guarantee that students will get it back in time for the trial which can result in them not being allowed to participate.
