OVAL UPDATE

Works on the oval continue to progress at a steady pace. The asphalting works planned this week have been moved to the holidays.  Instead, work has now started on preparing the base of the oval for the synthetic surface as can be seen in the photos below.

We are still expecting a completion date in early Term 3.

GRADE 5 CAMP

The Year 5 students enjoyed a fabulous time while at  Log Cabin Camp last week. They participated in two action packed days of camp activities and a day at Sovereign Hill.

Camps are a wonderful experience for our students that are not possible without the support of our dedicated teachers and staff. Thank you to Sally Dwyer (camp organiser), Tim Lee, Brooke Castledine, Leasyl Richards, Stephanie Cuddon, Erin Bartleton, Daniel Symonds, Lizzy Dent, Chloe Lim, Sharyn Veale and Rosie Gillespie for attending camp.

CROSS COUNTRY

Well done to those students who competed in the WESA Cross Country Event at Jells Park earlier in the week. We had some terrific results with 13 students moving forward to the divisional level and we came 2nd overall. Well done again to all the students that competed and to Nicole Purcell and Renee Drury for their work training the students over the last few weeks.

COLD, FLU and COVID REMINDERS

With the arrival of the colder weather there is an increase of colds, COVID and flu at this time of year. Whilst we understand that students want to attend school, it is important that they stay at home even if their symptoms are mild, and do not return to school until they are completely well. If your child presents at school with coughs and sniffles, it places all students and staff at risk.

COVID is back in our school community as well. Please take note of the following reminders to help us manage COVID at school.

1. If your child is unwell and is experiencing and COVID like symptoms such as a cough, headache, runny nose and fever, test for COVID and KEEP THEM AT HOME until they are feeling better.

2. If your child tests positive, please inform the school ASAP. It is recommended they isolate at home for 5 days after testing positive, or until they test negative and are symptom free.

3. If a family member has COVID, please send your child to school wearing a mask to minimise any potential spread.

4. If you require any additional RAT kits, please contact the school office.

5. If you are concerned about COVID in the school community, you are welcome to send your child to school wearing a mask.

POLICY AND WEBSITE UPDATES

The school website is currently being updated with more visible aspects such as the photos being updated in the next few weeks. This week the policy page (see below) has been updated. Thanks to Ms Richards and Mr Stockton for their work on this. If you have any feedback or queries regarding our policies, please contact the school via our Contact page.

VOLUNTEER INDUCTION INFORMATION

We appreciate and value the contribution of volunteers to our school such as parent helpers in the classrooms or attending excursions. However we do ask that Wheelers Hill Primary School volunteers are familiar with our policies and procedures relating to child safety and understand the important role they play in maintaining and promoting the safety of our students.

Volunteers must read the suite of policies and procedures in the links below if they are volunteering at school when children are likely to be present.

The information and related policies are located in the link below.

This information will also be located at the school office, where volunteers can also familairise and read this information when they sign in.

PREP SIBLING ENROLMENTS

We are now accepting enrolment for any Prep 2024 students who currently have a sibling at school. You will find the Sibling Enrolment Form for 2024 on your Compass Feed.

We request you complete this form and return it to the school as soon as possible via email, or drop it in at the office. Please attach a birth certificate/passport and immunisation certificate for your child. If your child has a current visa, please attach a copy to your application.

The Enrolment Form and associated documentation, needs to be submitted to the school by Friday 23rd June, the last day of Term 2. As this form is for siblings only, we request that you do not share it with any other parents. As we have a very high demand for places, we request you return this form as soon as possible so we have a clear understanding of our prep numbers for 2024.

Please contact the school office if you have any queries.
