Can you believe we are halfway through Term 2, and after this weekend halfway through the Winter season!

I wish to encourage all boys to take a moment to regroup and focus on the remaining fixtures for this term. It is important to remember that the game should not be won or lost before we have taken to the field/court. A winning mindset is one that deep down you have a sense of belief that your team has a chance of winning on Saturday.

Whether you are the ‘favourite’ or ‘underdog’ when you cross that white line to enter the playing arena, all bets are off. I quite often say; “on any given day, any team can win”… just look at the West Tigers. Given their season to date, who would have thought they would beat the Cowboys… who would have thought they would score 66 points.

I stress the significance of us developing a fighting spirit within our boys here at SPC. I encourage all boys to play till the very end of the match.  Never give up. There’s a competitive spirit in all of us and one that needs to be developed when we train and play the sports we love.

Good luck to all team this Saturday.

Reconciliation Round

On Saturday 3 June the College will hold our Winter Reconciliation Round of sport across all disciplines.

The First XV Rugby, First XI Football and First IV Tennis players will wear our College’s Aboriginal strip created in conjunction with our partner school in Alice Springs, St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre. Across the day, ALL teams will Acknowledge Country prior to the commencement of their fixtures.

Winter Sport Training Arrangements for Week 7

As you would be fully aware due to the long weekend there are no fixtures scheduled to take place on Saturday 10 June. Teams will continue to train as per normal with the exception of Friday 9 June where no training will take place as the College engages in its annual Founder’s Day celebrations.

Forward planning for Rugby in Orange               Saturday 12 August

The Rugby fraternity will travel over the mountains to play Kinross Wolaroi School on Saturday 12 August. At this point in time, all teams will play in Orange (or Bathurst for some other teams). To assist families who are unable to travel with their son/s, a bus will again be organised, and a note will go out at the end of term to try assist families regarding transportation.

All rugby players will be required to travel to Orange to play in their respective fixtures. It is the College’s expectations that all rugby players will attend. Should any family question their son’s ability to fulfil this commitment, a written ‘request for leave’ should be addressed to Mr Fochesato and myself at your earliest convenience.

Training during this week will see those 13s and 14s Rugby teams who train on a Friday afternoon conclude their session at 4:15 PM to allow those families wishing to travel on the Friday evening get on the road a little earlier.

It always proves to be a great weekend away so start booking your accommodation.
