Wellbeing Week

We often hear about the importance of mental health - but do we really know what mental health means?

Mental health has to do with our state of mind, and refers to our psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing. Our state of mental health influences how we think, feel, and act. It also affects how we cope with stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health, like physical health, is important at every stage of our lives, right from our childhood and adolescence into adulthood.

Here at St Patrick’s College, we have a variety of resources available to us to support our mental health, including supportive class and homeroom teachers, counsellors, year coordinators, and friends. I know we can sometimes get caught up however we can’t forget the importance of our mental health.

Therefore, over the course of this week, we have a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing in our classes and homerooms. Wellbeing Week has included workshops that have been facilitated by the Year 12 Student Leadership team, starting with Year 5 and 6 on Monday, Years 10, 11 and 12 on Tuesday and Years 7, 8 and 9 today.  In addition to this, the organisation ‘Safe on Social’ presented to Years 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12 today.

I thank Mrs Katherine Sinadinos and her team of Year 12 leaders for all the hard work in organising and facilitating of the various workshop activities. We hope that Wellbeing Week reminds us of the importance of mental health and wellbeing and that we all take continued positive steps to look after ourselves.

Safe on Social Parent Webinar - Thursday 25 May

Safe on Social will be hosting an upcoming webinar titled "Clearing the Smoke: Navigating Teen Vaping and Social Media" on Thursday 25 May. See description below:

Vaping has become a significant concern among our staff and parents as we see children younger and younger being impacted. With the rise of social media, it is crucial for us to stay informed about the impact of vaping and the role that social media plays in influencing our children. As parents we know you have questions, but often don’t know where to turn. As authorities in their field, Safe on Social have a unique perspective on this topic and bring years of experience working with parents on how to navigate difficult situations. Any questions you may have about the topic can be sent to Safe on Social at info@safeonsocial.com and they will do their best to address them within the webinar. We highly recommend taking a look at the webinar information here and attending if possible.
Kind Regards
Safe on Social
