Another exciting week at CJC with students continuing their comic strips and meditations.
The meditation sessions that the students have created will eventually be bound into a book and placed in each classroom for teacher and students to use.
Next week we will start a new topic in the lower primary on 'Problem Solving and Help Seeking'. We will devise strategies to plan and assist students with challenging tasks and decision making.
In the middle and upper primary we will start looking at 'Help Seeking Scenarios'. Students will be identifying the importance of help-seeking, propose sources of help and identify strategies for peer referral. This helps all students normalise and de-stigmatise help-seeking.
It is important to support young people’s resilience by recognising and celebrating their ability to solve problems independently. Equally, it is important to empower them to know when it is smart to seek help. They can come to recognise these times and normalise the practise of help seeking through talking, planning and practising. When children have a plan that they have discussed and practised, they are far more likely to get help sooner than later.
Guided Meditation
Get comfortable and when your ready,
close your eyes and take a couple deep breaths.
Take a moment to be grateful for what you have in your life.
It could be your family, your friends or even something small like the sun coming up in the morning or seeing your favourite bird out your window.
Now we are going to practise some deep breathing.
On every odd number l say you are going to breathe in.
And on the even numbers you are going to breathe out. Let’s try.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Good work.
Now return your breathing back to normal.
Now picture a bird on a tree in your mind. It could be a small bird or a large bird. Now choose what colour wings your bird is going to have.
It could be one colour. Or it could be multi coloured. All the rainbows.
Now choose what type or coloured beak your bird is going to have. It could be long or short, thick or thin.
Now imagine the bird flying away, its wings flapping up and down in the wind and it disappears in the clouds.
As you watch your colourful beautiful bird flying away in the breeze, make a wish that you want to come true. Then slowly turn away from your bird. And maybe one day your wish will come true.

🧘 Meditation guide 🧘
Close your eyes, be in your happy😃 space and relax. Take three deep breaths.
Breathe in through your nose, breathe out through your mouth. Breathe in,
Breathe out. Feel your tummy rise up and down. Feel your weight on the ground and relax. Imagine you are at the beach. Hear the waves crashing. 🌊
Imagine you are lying on a puffy cloud and nobody is around.You are high in
the sky and the sun is shining very brightly. You are on the only cloud☁️ in the sky. Suddenly, you find yourself in a rainforest. There is a waterfall right next to you. You can hear the water crashing into the lake. The lake is sparkling with the sunlight reflecting off it. You go for a walk in the rainforest. You see multiple animals🦜. Suddenly, you find yourself back where you started. Slowly open your eyes👀. Thank you for meditating with me.🌳
