VIETNAM VETERANS MUSEUM
Year 10 History - Vietnam Veterans Museum, Phillip Island
Year 10 students visited the Vietnam Veterans Museum on Monday to enhance their learning on the Vietnam War. Students were greeted by volunteers from the museum, one of whom served in Vietnam. They learnt how the museum came about and learnt about the conscription process with their dates of birth being drawn out of a barrel. The students were given a guided tour of the museum, including a sound and light show that depicted the various events throughout the Vietnam War. Students were able to try on various parts of the uniform soldiers wore, handle some of the communications equipment that they used, and replicas of various ammunition. Students were then given time to wander around the museum at their pace and read and learn more about the areas that interested them. Students were able to use the knowledge they had learnt in the classroom, and the visit to the museum will deepen their understanding of the Vietnam War.
