Bendigo Eisteddfod – MAG Primary Choir Win Gold!
Today, our Primary Choir, consisting of our Jr Singers and all Year 4 students, embarked on an exciting journey to Bendigo to participate in the prestigious 97th Annual Bendigo Eisteddfod. The choir competed in the Novice Primary Choir Section of the esteemed 'Peter Ryall Memorial Choir Competition'.
Our talented students delivered a remarkable performance, showcasing their musical prowess and dedication. They captivated the audience with three carefully selected pieces that met the competition's rigorous criteria. The repertoire included "Rainbows" by Mark Puddy, a beautiful composition by an Australian composer, "Firefly" by Andy Beck, a dramatic two-part piece, and "Chocolate" by Kirby Shaw, an engaging and fun unison piece.
The adjudicator for the event was the renowned Merlyn Quaife OAM, a soprano performer and highly experienced music educator known for her exceptional versatility. Ms. Quaife was full of praise for our Primary Choir, commending their enthusiastic performances and recognising their impressive musical talents and exquisite singing.
Ms. Quaife commented –
“What lovely songs you have chosen, especially your part-song (Firefly). And then came ‘Chocolate’ – bravo! Very entertaining and well performed. I love your energy and commitment.”
Receiving first place in our section was a momentous accomplishment for our Primary Choir! This triumph is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students.
The entire experience at the Bendigo Eisteddfod has been truly memorable and has provided our students with invaluable opportunities for growth and artistic expression. We are immensely proud of our Primary Choir for their outstanding achievement and for representing our school with such grace and talent.
