Co-Curricular Update
Primary Netball Tournament
On Friday 26 May, all of our Year 5 & 6 students participated in the Campaspe Primary Netball Tournament along with hundreds of other students from around our region. Well done to all the students who participated and showed wonderful sportsmanship.
Students Ted Morton and Taylah Brewis have shared their experiences of the day:
I just couldn’t sleep, no one could. All we could think about was netball. Everyone arrived on time since you really did not want to miss this.
We got our team numbers put on our hands and lined up, but not before everybody started talking about positions. ¨Can I be Centre? Goal Attack?¨
Now that we were on the bus, it was time to get excited. Once we arrived at EDNA, we jumped off the bus, put our things down and found our teams. Our team's first game was down at court four, so we shivered our way over there. We all waited anxiously while the other teams were wrapping up their games. The Moama Grammar Mangoes were off to a great start with our first game 11-1. The initial excitement definitely gave us a confidence boost going into game 2. Another victory. It wasn’t until the fourth game that we didn’t win (a draw instead). We were now on the final stretch. The 5th and 6th games went very well with Moama Grammar Mangoes sweeping both. Now it was time for the final game of the day against our toughest opponent yet, MAGs 1.
An early lead for the Mangoes set the tone for the rest of the match. After a near comeback from the opposition, we shook hands and packed our bags. This amazing but tiring experience finished with front row seats to the A finals. Thank you teachers for providing us this exciting, action packed and challenging day of sport.

Brrr! It was a freezing Friday morning. I hopped onto the bus, grateful to be warm. I took a seat next to Loghan and we began heading to EDNA netball courts. After a fun bus ride, we reached the netball courts. I was thrilled! I knew how much everyone had been looking forward to this big day.
After getting into my group, which was MAGS 6, we were told we got to play in the stadium all day. I was really excited about that. It was a bit cold in the stadium, but during the day it got very warm. Our coach, Ruby´s mum, made us warm up. We did some stretches and ran a couple of laps around the courts. Our first game was against 208. We were great in the first quarter, but it was our first game. We lost by 3 goals. Sure, we were all disappointed, but we were good sports at least and clapped. I was the GD, which is Goal Defence. My team was: Ruby, Ashton, Ava, Allegra, Jasmine, Darcy and Sam.
At last, lunch came. I went to the canteen and got a sausage roll and a lolly bracelet. After my team had our lunch, we went outside and we practiced. I was partnered with Ruby, and we were defending. We tried to get the ball from Ava, Jasmine and Allegra.
In our third game, against Kyabram, we won! The team was so happy when we found out. Take that! With our spirits higher, we went on to our next game. Turns out, we lost our next game by ONE goal. I was very frustrated, but still clapped. Even if they never clapped when we got a goal.
In our last game against St Marys, we smashed them! I found out I was a good goalkeeper. Honestly, I was a very loud cheerleader. Even on the court! Then, halftime went. I swapped with Ruby and went to Allegra´s mum, Loghan and Ruby's mum, who was our coach. St Mary's stood no chance against us! I was overjoyed when we won.
I ended the day with horribly sore knees. But, every second of my knee pain was worth it! I liked watching the grand final. It was with P-12, St Marys and a couple of other schools. I was glad I got to see an old friend of mine, Lily. In conclusion, the netball gala was a very enjoyable experience.
