Egg-citing news! If you haven't yet heard, the Junior school is currently hosting a chicken hatching program that's got everyone in the school cracking with anticipation. On the live stream students and parents alike eagerly watch as the eggs hatch, revealing fluffy chicks with some pretty special names including; Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Nugget. It has been wonderful to see our students gather around, chirping with joy as they witness this egg-ceptional journey of new life. It's an egg-squisite opportunity for them to learn about responsibility, growth, and the miracles of nature. From the shell to the feather, this chicken hatching program has truly laid the foundation for an egg-straordinary learning experience in the junior school.

Last Friday, we had an incredible time at Twisted Science. Our day was divided into two hours of exciting activities. During the first hour, we participated in a captivating workshop called "Bug Farm." In this workshop, we explored the fascinating life cycle of mealworms, starting from their egg stage, progressing through larva and pupa, and finally witnessing their transformation into mealworms and darkling beetles. During the second hour, we had the chance to immerse ourselves in the play zone, which featured a wide range of activities related to physical, chemical, and biological sciences.
Just take a look at some of the fun!
Our excursion was a great success and it provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore and engage with various scientific concepts in a hands-on and interactive manner.
We've been engaging in a skill practice game called 'Read and Grab'. The objective is to read the closed syllable word written on each card. If we read it correctly, we keep the card and even have the opportunity to collect other cards of the same colour from our group! It's so much fun!
In our Maths class, we are currently studying addition. We are learning the meaning of the "+" and "=" signs and how to write addition equations correctly. To help us understand better, we use concrete materials to create number stories. After that, we practice writing the corresponding number sentences on our write and swipes.
On Thursday Prep had a class party to celebrate a remarkable milestone for our friend Isla and her family. We're incredibly lucky to be a part of your happiness! Check out that smash cake!
In MSL we have been learning the Pitch rule. When the 'ch' sound comes after a short vowel, we use the 'tch' .
In Maths we have been diving into the fascinating world of 2D shapes. Through hands-on activities we discovering the properties and characteristics of various shapes like circles and squares to triangles and rectangles. We are learning to recognise and describe these shapes by number of sides and vertices.
Our rule this week has been 'double ee double the power'. We have been practicing decoding (reading) and encoding (writing) words that follow this in our morning sessions.
In Maths, students have been exploring 'location'. We are learning to effectively communicate and comprehend directions, describe various locations, and constructing arrangements based on given instructions. We designed our own maps using our knowledge of location. We had so much fun coding our Bee - Bots to follow directions and visit different destinations on our maps.
Finally, we extend our heartfelt wishes to our dear friend Sidney and his family as they commence their exciting new journey in Copenhagen. We will miss you dearly.
