Music Learning Area Upd

'Creating Futures Together'

It’s been a rewarding few weeks in the Music Learning Area at Wheelers Hill, as we have seen real growth in our students, both from an ensemble perspective and individual student performance. I think our students have really benefitted from the experiences they’ve had.

CHOIR INCURSION

On May 11th, The Choir Incursion allowed the choir to have an extended rehearsal time, and they were so well focused and positive with their energy throughout the entire day. Towards the end of the Incursion the Choir recorded two songs, one of which has been shared in this newsletter.

WOODWIND AND KEYBOARD and GUITAR AND VOCAL SOIREES

This week we have held a Woodwind andKeyboard Soiree (Monday May 15th) and a Guitar and Vocal Soiree (Wednesday May 17th). We had 41 students from Years 7 – 12 perform across both events. They delivered a wonderful range of solo and small group pieces to appreciative audiences. Annie Stone, Leigh Collins and Yael Zamir have done a fantastic job preparing our instrumental students for these events.

WINTER MUSIC SHOWCASE

Our Winter Music Showcase will be held Monday May 29th at 7pm in the Bunjil Centre. Please continue to practice your ensemble pieces at home and make sure you attend your final rehearsal before the concert. Most ensembles will complete a soundcheck during the day of the concert. All performers will need to arrive at school by 6:30pm. The exception for this is the CHOIR who need to be at school by 6pm for your soundcheck. Please check with your ensemble director regarding what your ensemble is wearing on the evening. If you have any further questions regarding this event, please don’t hesitate to contact me. We look forward to seeing you there!

INSTRUMENTAL FEES

In regards to Instrumental Fees for Term 2, these should now be appearing for most students under Course Confirmation and Payments on Compass. Thank your for your patience regarding this, as our new Business Manager sets up the system.
