Chaplaincy Book Fair - Friday 19th & Saturday 20th May 20

Books galore are for sale at $1 each this Friday and Saturday in Maroske Hall as the Horsham College Chaplaincy Committee hold their first fundraiser for the year.

Selling pre-loved books donated by the community, the Committee will raise funds to finance the role of Chaplain at Horsham College, including the provision of special events, gifts and prizes for the whole school community throughout the year.

Famous for it’s 50 cent children’s books, the biannual Chaplaincy Book Fair brings together book lovers from far and wide to grab the latest copy of their favourite author’s novel, special interest manuscripts and tomes on almost anything under the sun.

Students help move the donated books to their storage location and then make the magic happen when they set-up the event.  Shifting more than 10,000 categorised books into place takes lots of energy, but teenagers seem to know how to turn it into competitive fun!  Our volunteer book sorters – John and Marylou Speirs – make the whole event possible.

Opening at noon this Friday, everyone is welcome to attend right through until 9pm.  A shorter day on Saturday sees the sale continue from 9am to noon.  Wastebusters will attend the event again this year, recycling any items that look a little tired and emotional, with Apex and Rotary lending a hand to pack away the empty boxes ready for reuse in October.

The Chaplaincy Committee hope to see you there!
