Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone who has come out to support our students and school community in the last week.

Our Mother's Day breakfast was a lovely opportunity to express our gratitude for all mothers, grandmothers and mother figures in the lives of our students. We hope that all mothers enjoyed their waffles for breakfast and the gifts bought at the Mother's Day stall.

This Monday SHS will be participating in the Gunnedah Eisteddfod for Speech and Drama. Thank you to Miss Morrissey for preparing our students. Good luck also to our students who are participating in individual and small group sections for Speech and Drama. Congratulations on your participation and we wish you the best of luck!

Good luck also to our cross country team who will be participating in the Diocesan Cross Country this Friday in Barraba. Thank you to Mrs Goddard for her organisation of our students for this event.

Wednesday of this week also sees our Year 6 students participate in the GRIP Leadership Conference in Moree. The focus of the GRIP leadership days is to foster:

GENEROSITY Willingness to use what you have been given (time and resources) on behalf of those you seek to influence.

RESPONSIBILITY We all have a responsibility to develop what we have and help others to live well.

INTEGRITY A commitment to truth and honesty in dealings.

PEOPLE Every human being is of great significance, and has a purpose to fulfill

Our students will take this opportunity to travel with St Francis Xavier's from Narrabri.

This is the final week of the uniform transition period. As of next week (Week 5) all students will need to be in full winter uniform. If you are having any issues with obtaining a winter uniform, please see Ms Traynor in the front office.

We will hold our next PTF meeting on Tuesday 23 May at 5:30pm - all are welcome. We will also be holding our next School Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday 30 May at 5:30pm.

After speaking with all parents involved in the Transition program, we will be postponing transition for Thursday 25 May as the whole school will be involved in the Gunnedah Eisteddfod.  We look forward to seeing you back at school on Thursday 1 June.

Transition for 2024 has commenced and we are very happy to welcome our new Kindergarten students for next year.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

I will be away from school from Tuesday 16 - Friday 19 May as I will be in Wollongong attending the Australian Catholic School Principals Association conference. If you need any assistance while I am away you can contact Mrs Kathlene Fenton at school.

Happy birthday to Kiarah who turns 10 on the 21 May.  We hope you have a fabulous day!

Take care,

Kath Baird
